This is an amazing Chinese carved walnut! It is hard to date these because there is a long tradition of these carvings but this one is dark and seems to have some age. There are no cracks or damage and there is lots of detail in the little monk faces, flowers and leaves. These little nut carvings are sometimes called Heidao meaning nut or fruit pit carvings or Luohan Arhat which I believe has Buddhist traditional meaning.
