Large Vintage Brass Navy 40 MM-MK-2 Artillery Shell Casing 101438 4-45 UR6 45 MK22 - 1 LT 2 3/8" base diameter x 12 1/4" tall

This is a 40 MM brass Navy artillery shell casing. It measures 12 1/4" tall with a 2 3/8" base diameter and a 1 1/2" top diameter. The marks on the base, outer edge read: 101438 40MM-MK 2 4-45 EK and the Navy anchor symbol. The marks near the center read: MK22 - 1 LT 4 703 UR6 45. The marks on the side are worn, but I think they are: UE 154 U45. It was purchased from a thrift store in Clayton, GA.
