These are small Golden Nature Guide books from the 1950s and 60s. "Fishes, A guide to Familiar American Species" by Herbert S. Zim and Hurst H. Shoemaker and illustrated by James Gordon Irving was published in 1956 by Simon and Schuster. "Pond Life A Guide to Common Plants and Animals of North American Ponds and Lakes" is by George K Reid under the editorship of Herbert S Zim and George S Fichter, illustrated by Sally D Kaicher and Tom Dolan and published by Golden Press in 1967. Both books measure about 4" x 6" and are in good condition with some wear around the edges from use. "Fishes" has a deep scratch on the cover that went through to a few pages.
