This is a set of tiny hinged metal snuff bottles. I don't know if they are actual silver, but they are silver colored metal. They have engraved designs and Chinese characters on both sides of each bottle. Each has a threaded lid and one lid has a snuff spoon. They are in great vintage condition with some tarnish patina, so they probably are silver. The set measures 1 1/8" x 1 3/4" 1/4", (each bottle is 7/8" x 1 1/8").
